St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, April 24, 2009 - Provincial Aerospace Ltd., having won a competitive bid to convert two (2) Bombardier 415 amphibious aircraft into a MP (Maritime Patrol) variant, has taken delivery of the first of the two aircraft . The aircraft will receive modifications at Provincial's Aerospace and Defence facility in St. John's.
The contract valued at $4M includes structural, electrical and avionics modifications as well as the installation and integration of specialized maritime surveillance and search and rescue equipment. These state-of-the-art maritime surveillance aircraft will be utilized for surveillance and search and rescue operations in South East Asia. The Bombardier 415MP is a unique maritime surveillance aircraft designed to be able to land on water.
