St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, June 5, 2009 - Senator Fabian Manning announced today that Provincial Aerospace Ltd., has been awarded a five-year contract valued at $75 million to provide maritime surveillance services to the Government of Canada.
"The awarding of this contract is a confirmation of the Government of Canada's confidence in our company's ability to execute one of the most exciting and innovative public-private partnerships in Canada today," says Brian Chafe, Provincial Aerospace's Chief Operating Officer. "This contract will ensure the seamless continuation of surveillance activities for Canada's oceans."
Senator Manning acknowledged the contribution of Provincial Aerospace and Fisheries and Oceans Canada's fishery offices in executing one of the most effective maritime surveillance programs in the world by asserting Canada's sovereignty, providing search and rescue support and pollution monitoring. "Their contributions are vital to ensuring the continued economic sustainability of our fisheries and the safety and security of this great country," says Senator Manning.
Under this new contract, Provincial Aerospace will continue to provide dedicated maritime surveillance services using its fleet of four specially modified and equipped Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft stationed in St. John's, Halifax and Comox. A key feature of the program is the incorporation of unique design innovations that Provincial Aerospace developed over its 25 year history modifying and operating Maritime Patrol Aircraft as well as the addition of next generation technologies.

Over the past several years, Provincial Aerospace has signed contracts to provide maritime surveillance aircraft, operational support and training for the Netherlands Antilles, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates; all a direct result of the experience realized from the company's work with the Government of Canada.
During the announcement at Provincial Aerospace's headquarters, Mr. Chafe formally acknowledged the contribution of the company's employees and the Fisheries and Oceans offices that support the activities of the contract.
